Overview
Reporting directly to the Corps Officers, the Camp Coordinator is responsible for hands-on oversight to and administration of the Northwest Corps Kids Summer Adventure Program.
This is a seasonal position - starting on 6/26/25 and ending on 8/1/25. Mon-Fri (40 hours/week)
Responsibilities
Pro-actively identify and solve problems and areas of concern for staff, children and volunteers.
Plan/coordinate (with Corps Officers) Summer program field trips and events.
Plan, coordinate (with Corps Officers) and distribute weekly program schedules for daily activities to staff. Update daily with any changes.
Ensure attendance records are maintained.
Maintain a safe environment for program.
Handle all disciplinary actions following protocols in place.
Complete all necessary forms, speak to parents, consult, and inform the Corps Officer of action taken.
Coordinate Rochester Works employee weekly schedules. Input time on computerized timesheet logs and submit weekly to Rochester Works.
Greet all children, staff, parents and volunteers each day at sign in table.
Remain visible and accessible to staff and children.
Determine program supply requirements and provide a weekly written re-supply report to Corps Officers. Keep an inventory of all supplies.
Attend Summer program morning and afternoon activities when possible/applicable.
Contribute to weekly staff meetings re: leadership, children concerns, volunteer support, schedule conflicts, etc.
Oversee clean up and set up of activity rooms.
Transport staff, children and volunteers as required to meet program needs.
Meet regularly with Corps Officers to discuss and evaluate the success of the program’s activities and scheduling.
Report and file incident reports for all accidents/incidents. Report all incidents to Corps Officers with a copy of the Incident Report.
Supervise and delegate responsibilities to other staff and volunteers, as needed.
Report any misconduct of staff, volunteers, or parental concerns immediately to Corps Officers.
Maintain high level of staff morale and conduct by providing mentorship and support to staff and volunteers.
Ensure staff and peers adhere to all program policies and procedures.
Fill in for counselors as needed.
Waitlist Control – Organize children on the summer program waitlist. Contact waitlisted children to move them off the list and into the program.
Organize and assign volunteers.
Schedule staff breaks and assign coverage.
Respond to general parent inquiries as required.
Collect, record and properly store weekly payments and process for weekly deposit.
Maintain close communication with parents/guardians as required and provide verbal or written reports of these interactions as needed.
Maintain Foodlink paperwork and submit daily reports as required by Foodlink. Receive meals daily and adhere to Foodlink guidelines in documentation and record keeping (in Foodlink manual).
Represent The Salvation Army’s spiritual ministry and social mission in the Northwest Corps Kids Summer Adventure Program.
Other duties as assigned by the Corps Officers.

Qualifications
High School diploma/GED required
Supervisory experience
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and exercise initiative
Ability to take charge and motivate others
Ability to work with a wide variety of ages and demographic groups
Ability to observe staff and children’s behavior, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures and respond appropriately
Must have enthusiasm, patience, and self-control
Valid NY State Driver License that meets The Salvation Army’s insurance requirements
Professionally and ethically represent The Salvation Army and its mission to the staff, families, and community
