What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resource Administrative Assistant position at The Salvation Army Golden State Division?
OVERVIEW:
The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for the overall functioning of HR processes and policies at Harbor Light Center.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in preparing rationale and information for DHQ and The Salvation Army Mission Manager
- Maintain and update employee notice and information boards
- Maintain an updated organization chart, telephone extension directory, and employee database
- Ensure the accuracy of bi-weekly payroll
- Remain informed on Human Resource requirements and guidelines
- In collaboration with GSDHQ – HR issue, track and submit all performance appraisals
- Coordinate all recruitment, selection, onboarding, and offboarding activities
- Work with managers to mitigate/improve staffing challenges and develop human resource departmental goals, objectives, and tools
- Update job descriptions with current qualifications, grants, contracts, and licensure requirements
- Coordinate all learning, development, health, and safety activities
- Ensure employees, volunteers, interns, and other personnel have cleared backgrounds
- Coordinate training, compliance, and adherence to all Salvation Army requirements
- Oversee discrepancies in payroll records, employee timesheets, and worker’s compensation claims
- Oversee job status, job titles, and exemptions
- Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- CA driver's license (required)
- Experience working in Human Resources (2 years required)
- Associate degree (preferred)
- Experience with Microsoft programs
- First Aid and CPR certification (within first fourteen days of employment – company provided).
- Tuberculosis clearance (within first seven days of employment – company provided)
