Location: The Salvation Army, Lakeland, Florida
Position Type: Regular Part-Time
Pay Range: $15.00 – $17.00/ Hour
About this opportunity:
This position assists, instructs, and evaluates children in the academic areas in which they are weak so they may better understand and perform the skills; confers directly with the student’s teacher and parents regarding students progress; conducts individual and group tutoring sessions with students; prepares various reports documenting the student's progress and shares the same with parents.
Key responsibilities:
Utilizes educational tools (flash-cards, charts, educational games, work-sheets, textbooks, etc) in order to explain, teach and/or review educational skills according to the needs of the students.
Plans and prepares curriculum for each child for each tutoring session.
Prepares and provides bi-weekly, mid-term, and a final report of each student for parents; prepares and provides an end-of-the-month report of the tutoring program.
What we are looking for in you:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, or a related field AND
One year experience teaching school aged children basic academics, OR
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Valid State Driver’s License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a normal classroom or office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
