Job Title: Associate General Counsel
Department: Legal/Government Relations
Reports To: Vice President & Deputy General Counsel

Primary Objective: Serves under the general oversight of the Deputy General Counsel (DGC) and General Counsel (GC). The Associate General Counsel (AGC) serves in this position consistent with the attorney-client relationship. The AGC is responsible for assisting the DGC and GC in providing legal advice, counsel and representation to the organization, including in the areas of internal investigations, human relations, dispute resolution, and contract negotiations. The AGC also may oversee or support various programs as assigned by the DGC and/or GC, and represent the company in external legal, government and community relations matters.
Essential Functions:
- Provide general legal representation and advice to the company, including in the areas of people and culture, internal and external investigations, policies and procedures, compliance, litigation disputes, contract negotiations, and other matters as needed.
- Draft and review contracts and other agreements, including in collaboration with other departments.
- Assist the DGC with maintaining organizational compliance program.
- Strategize with the DGC to identify and mitigate risks to the organization.
- Support the DGC in litigation-related activities, including assisting outside counsel and collaborating with MLB when appropriate.
- Provide legal counsel to the human resources department, including with employee-relations matters, workforce training, policy formation and risk management.
- Develop strategies to effectively manage Team Members and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of department’s people resources.
- Represent the company in external matters concerning legal and community relations issues.
- Defend the company in legal disputes and claims.
- Provide support for legal issues relating to the minor league, spring training, and international operations of the organization.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and graduation from an accredited law school required.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in either a law firm or in-house corporate environment.
- Member in good standing of the Washington State Bar.

The anticipated range of base compensation for this role is $195,000 to $220,000 annually.
