Are you passionate about helping men, women and families in Buncombe County in becoming healthier and safer? The SPARC Foundation is looking for a Community Health Worker - Violence Prevention Professional (CHW-VPP) to support people living in communities that experience violence, such as Deaverview, Maple Crest, PVA-Pisgah View Apartments, Livingston, Klondike, Shiloh, and Wharton Apartments neighborhoods.

Your Role:
As a CHW-VPP, you will play a crucial role in achieving the following goals:
- Decrease violence through providing economic mobility to people in need.
- Increase health by providing emotional support and guidance on topics related to health.
- Increase social cohesion within communities by participating in community events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach to identify community members in need of health services and support.
- Educate individuals and families about health topics, including nutrition, addiction counseling, and public health initiatives.
- Assist clients in navigating Medicare and other healthcare programs.
- Facilitate access to resources by connecting clients with appropriate services.
- Support others by providing social and emotional support.
- Develop goals and provide direct support to achieve them.
- Advocate for others in health, criminal justice, and education systems.
- Build trusting relationships and motivate others to succeed.
Qualifications:
- Life experience similar to the population served
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in community health, social work, or related fields is a plus.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
