Job Overview:
The Truck Shop is a busy commercial truck dealership and a division of Small & Sons Oil Dist. Co. We are a family-owned and operated company in business for more than 60 years.
We are looking for a Full Charge Bookkeeper, with direct experience working at a dealership, to join our dynamic accounting team.
This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial record-keeping and accounting functions for The Truck Shop, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and sales tax reports.
In addition, this role will ensure The Truck Shop's financial records are accurate and compliant with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable & Receivables: Manage all aspects of A/P and A/R, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, verifying all transactions are accurately recorded.
- General Ledger: Maintain the G/L, ensuring all financial transactions are properly categorized and recorded.
- Sales & Tax Compliance: Accurately prepare and submit sales tax reports in compliance with all state and federal tax regulations.
- Sales Reporting: Track vehicle purchases and sales. Verify inventory records align with financial data.
- Year-end support: Assist with internal and external reviews and tax returns. Provide requested documentation and resolve discrepancies.
Qualifications:
- 2 years' experience as a full charge bookkeeper or similar role
- Auto or commercial truck dealership industry required
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations
- Proficient in accounting software (experience with Karmak or other dealership ERP a plus!)
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks
- Strong PC skills with proficiency in MS Office
- Professional, positive attitude
- Able to work independently, and as a team
- Able and willing to work on-site - this is not a remote position
Education:
- Associate's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Admin. or related field
- Bachelor's degree preferred
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with 1-hour unpaid lunch
Salary:
- $25 - $32 per hour (DOE)
