What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hourly Patient Access Support position at The University of Iowa?
Hourly Patient Access Support staff are responsible for activities associated with scheduling patient appointments for the UI Health Care outpatient clinics, following the guidelines set forth by the department providers, the organization and the UI PAC. Participates in access EMR workflows and provides phone coverage for assigned area(s), taking inbound calls and making outbound calls. Upholds the UI Patient Access Center’s policies, best practices and guidelines. Collaborates and partners with team members within the UI PAC as well as UI departments and patients. May perform other duties as assigned.
About the UI Patient Access Center
The UI Patient Access Center (UI PAC) operates the high volume patient scheduling “contact” center, facilitating patient access to UI Health Care outpatient services. The contact center offers an extension of the clinics. The center is utilized by over 20 departments, outreach, and community clinics. The UI Patient Access Center (UI PAC) was established in July 2015 by the University of Iowa Physicians Group (UIP). The program was known prior to this date as the Centralized Management of Scheduling Program.
Required Qualifications:
- Any combination of clerical office experience, undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to one year of full-time employment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Customer service experience.
- Proficiency in computer spreadsheet and database applications.
- Experience with hospital operations and/or Ambulatory clinic operations.
