Position Summary
The University of New Mexico Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Contract and Grant Administrator to join our team at the Center of Psychiatric Research. This unique opportunity involves providing administrative and technical guidance and support to faculty and staff seeking external funding for groundbreaking research and public service projects. As a member of the psychiatric research team, you will support the review and processing of incoming awards and award modifications, monitor award balances, review budgets and expenditures, and prepare close out of assigned grants and contracts. This role directly assists principal investigators (PI's), serving as a liaison with the Health Sciences Center (HSC) Sponsored Projects and funding agencies, including researching answers specific to research compliance, policies, and administration. Works closely with research operations manager, accountants and department administrator to ensure compliance.
Key responsibilities include :
- Guiding and facilitating the development and preparation of research proposals, contracts, sub-contracts, and agreements, including budgeting and documentation specific to psychiatric and behavioral health research.
- Analyzing and evaluating contract and grant budgets for accuracy in expenditure categories such as salaries, fringe benefits, indirect costs, materials, and equipment.
- Coordinating the implementation and support of financial systems and related policies within the Center for Psychiatric Research.
- Preparing required documentation and obtaining official University signatures. Assists in developing processes and procedures for contract and grant negotiations, including both pre-award and post-award, to meet university requirements.
- Coordinate the receipt of awards and contract documentation, maintain comprehensive proposal and funding records, and prepare detailed reports.
- Additionally, you will participate in special projects and perform related administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
