Career Consultant
Career Consultant to work with STEM students in the School of Computing and Information. The Career Consultant will provide personalized assistance to students/alumni with career planning, internships, job search strategies, and graduate school preparation as well as provide outreach and programming to the School of Computing and Information and several majors in the School of Dietrich Arts and Sciences. Duties of this 12-month position include individual appointments, drop-in appointments, workshops & programs, developing job search resources, outreach to residence halls and student organizations, and establishing contacts with faculty and academic advisors. Candidate should possess a working knowledge of career development issues relevant to STEM majors. Career Consultant to work with STEM students in the School of Computing and Information. Candidate should possess a working knowledge of career development issues relevant to STEM majors.A degree in student personnel, higher education administration or associated field. One to two years’ experience in career advising, cooperative education, recruitment/employment, student affairs, guidance or related areas is preferred.
Provides group and individual student career coaching and assessments to foster understanding of University resources, professional development, and career opportunities. Assists in creation and facilitation of education and outreach. Teaches career development courses. Promotes and represents the career center at University functions and drives outreach.
Position is primarily sedentary. Computer and technology usage necessary. On event or fair days mobility [including standing or] is needed as well as the ability to lift and/or carry 25 lbs.
