Career Consultant to work with STEM students in the School of Computing and Information. The Career Consultant will provide personalized assistance to students/alumni with career planning, internships, job search strategies, and graduate school preparation as well as provide outreach and programming to the School of Computing and Information and several majors in the School of Dietrich Arts and Sciences. Duties of this 12-month position include individual appointments, drop-in appointments, workshops & programs, developing job search resources, outreach to residence halls and student organizations, and establishing contacts with faculty and academic advisors. Essential Functions
Provides individual and group career coaching and counseling. Advises students on available University resources and procedures.
Collaborates in the development and delivery of career/life education and outreach and service programs.
Performs special projects that are closely aligned with training/coursework in academic departments.
Provides liaison and consultative services to faculty, staff, and student organizations.
Teaches career development courses in accordance with academic unit/campus policies.
Represents career services at campus and community functions. Represents the University/student affairs on external or University-wide committees.
Engages in employer outreach and development initiatives to promote employment opportunities for students and alumni.
Administers and interprets a broad range of career assessment instruments. Maintains documentation that tracks client progress, assessments results, and goals, ensuring confidentiality.
Physical Effort
Position is primarily sedentary. Computer and technology usage necessary. On event or fair days mobility [including standing or] is needed as well as the ability to lift and/or carry 25 lbs.
