Job Summary
Responsible for providing professional knowledge, advice and counseling skills regarding the undergraduate student admissions and recruitment process. Provides high-level coordination and review of the undergraduate admissions process.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
- Develops and implements strategies of the admissions plan; administers admissions policies and procedures for specific programs and activities.
- Counsels prospective students, parents, educational administrators and other interested persons regarding admissions requirements, policies and procedures.
- Manages assigned territory for recruitment of prospective students inclusive of travel planning and meetings with high school counselors, students, and other professionals.
- Travel to high schools, community colleges, fairs and secondary schools within Texas and surrounding areas.
- Travel is an essential function to this role and may require up to 4-6 weeks in the fall and 2-3 weeks in the spring.
- Promotes university opportunities to prospective students by developing and delivering presentations to high schools, businesses and organizations.
- Provide tour talk presentations, tours, and help with recruitment events both on and off campus regularly gathers and analyzes information on application and enrollment trends to determine proper workloads.
- Provides administrative management and coordination of admissions functions and reporting. Reviews admissions applications and makes admissions decisions.
- Reviews merit scholarship eligibility using established policy, evaluates college course credit and records.
- Coordinates information sessions and event planning for admissions activities.
- Supervises the assigned student workers as appropriate and coordinates their daily tasks and schedules.
- Acts as the main contact for the assigned admissions process.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of the admissions process in order to train staff, pinpoint and resolve issues and serve as a backup for assigned supervisor.
- Establishes a high level of integrity and ethical behavior in dealing with confidential information.
- Researches and confirms applicant residency status and maintains up to date on admissions policies and procedures.
- Attends university meetings and participates in committees as needed.
- Manages the interactions between the office and outside service providers.
- May recommend policy and procedural changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in admissions recruitment and/or enrollment practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree.
- One year of experience counseling students in admissions, financial aid, or in a closely related area.
- Valid Texas driver's license.

- Ability to successfully interact with students, faculty and staff.
- High attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and ability to organize teams to complete tasks.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to university admissions. Excellent public speaking skill sets.

Other Information
- 40% of essential job function is in relationship to travel and territory management inclusive of nights, weekends and multiple day assignments.
- 30% of essential job function is to maintain application and admission review along with merit scholarship evaluation.
- 20% of essential function is supporting operations but not limited to engagement of the admission funnel by means such as phone, email, text, and in person tours, events on and off campus (virtual).
- 10% other duties inclusive to enrollment management initiatives such as commencement and registration.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
