Title: Senior Accountant

Job Summary:
Oversee financial management for The Verdes Foundation and its seven associated entities. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, and process optimization while leading the accounting team. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to drive efficiency, improve internal controls, and support strategic financial initiatives.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Supervises & conducts day-to-day operations of all accounting functions: including but not limited to:
- Accounts payable; including entering, paying, monitoring, and fielding associated questions from employees and vendors
- Accounts receivable; including retail DIT’s and wholesale receivables
- Daily sales reconciliations for all stores
- Daily cash dispositioning for all bank accounts, including entity level bank accounts
- Credit card program management: including receipt capture, employee justifications, opening/closing employee credit cards, managing credit limits, and ensuring employee transactions are in-line with corporate credit card policy
- Wholesale invoicing and customer collections
- Manage users in various accounting related platforms
- Manage users and structure of Order.co procurement platform
- Supervises & conducts the month-end closing process; including but not limited to:
- Timely and accurate close package
- Cash reconciliations; including all entities and safe reconciliations
- Credit card reconciliations
- Payroll journal entries, including month-end accruals
- Monthly sales reconciliation (retail and wholesale sales)
- Expense allocations
- Depreciation and fixed asset subledgers
- Bank fee & royalty fee recalculations
- Income tax accruals (federal and state)
- Analytics, including balance sheet and P&L flux analysis to ensure proper treatment of expenses and other transactions.
- Provide leadership to the accounting staff by setting expectations, driving accountability, and fostering professional development
- Advise and collaborate with procurement, retail operations, manufacturing, and cultivation teams to ensure accurate cost accounting and financial reporting
- Drive efficiencies in financial processes
- Collaborate with external CPA, bankers, insurance, and governmental regulatory bodies.
- Collaborates with CFO on creation and implementation of internal control policies and procedures for all financial activities.

- Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Minimum five years of experience in accounting and financial reporting
- Corporate and/or personal tax experience a plus
- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures (GAAP)
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and report financial information
- Proficiency in auditing and presenting financial reports and metrics
- Strong expertise of QuickBooks Online
- Knowledge & understanding of 280E
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) or other accounting related certification
- Two years manufacturing and/or retail experience
- Advanced math skills: ability to calculate figures, amounts, and percentages, and apply concepts of mathematics relating to financial calculations

Compensation/Hours:
Compensation - DOE; 40 hours/wk., Required Mon – Fri, some weekends and holidays
