Accounting Director
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000
We're seeking an Accounting Director to help guide our financial health, accounting, and overall culture here at The Villages of Indiana, Inc where innovation meets impact. The Accounting Director is responsible for managing and directing the divisions that oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting in alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic goals. This individual ensures that financial processes are carried out accurately, efficiently, and ethically while maintaining transparency and accountability for donors, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
As the Accounting Director you will:
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financials in compliance with GAAP and relevant non-profit accounting standards.
Provide accurate and timely analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts to assist in decision-making.
Oversee grant compliance and administration including but not limited to monitoring grant agreements, regulatory guidelines, and organization policies to ensure compliance with all applicable rules.
Assist with monitoring actual results against budget, providing variance analyses and recommendations to optimize resource allocation.
Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.
Coordinate and manage annual audits with external auditors, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Supervise and mentor a team of accounting staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and professional development.
Leverage technology (e.g., accounting software, grants management systems) to streamline workflows, enhance reporting capabilities, and support scalability.
Position Requirements
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5 years of progressive accounting experience
A combination of education and experience may be considered
Preferred Experience:
Prior experience in a non-profit organization
