Position Overview: 

The Director of Clinical Business Development utilizes clinical expertise in planning, evaluation, implementing and business development activities supporting the VNA.   This employee is responsible for setting goals, business development, and implementing and monitoring exceptional customer service agency wide, as well as superior quality and financial accountability in the flu immunization program, health services programs, and corporate health programs. This employee is a member of the management team assuming management responsibility and fostering an environment of teamwork and collaboration, encouraging inter-departmental communication. Provides support for all agency service lines. Represents the agency in the community. May perform the duties and responsibilities of positions in the department. Understands and commits to the agency mission, vision and values. Performs all duties and responsibilities listed herein, as well as other duties that may be assigned.

  • Promotes the growth of the VNA by representing the organization, its mission and its role in the community in a professional manner.
  • Collaborates with partner organizations in developing positive and productive relationships with key management and referral sources identifying their needs and preferences, coordinates collaboration with referral sources and program management.
  • Role models and encourages behaviors that result in internal and external customer satisfaction agency wide.
  • Utilizes data to develop and implement agency business plans as it relates to programs. Reviews and analyzes statistical and financial reports. Reports department trends and statistics.
  • Participates in managing flu immunization programs, health services programs, and corporate health programs by development, administration and evaluation. Assists in developing the growth of other public health programs.
  • Develops and manages the budget for the department including specified marketing and community relations promotional items and collateral materials, community education and VNA representation at community events.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, training and consultation to the team.  Ensure that practices enhance quality and promote a customer-focused environment that serves both internal and external customers.  Facilitates change in processes and priorities.  Accountable for achievement of goals.
  • Assumes responsibility for staff development, staff selection, goal setting, professional development, coaching, disciplinary actions and performance appraisals.
  • Develops and manages performance standards for department.
  • Maintains appropriate staffing, arranges for appropriate distribution of workload, and monitors productivity.
  • Contributes to employee satisfaction through positive interactions, working environment, and professionalism.
  • Conducts timely performance evaluations.  Conducts ongoing competency assessment as part of the evaluation process and identifies the need for new competency assessments.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of agency policies and procedures.  
  • Complies with all federal, state and local laws and regulations as appropriate for the position.  
  • Complies with the policies and procedures of the agency, including those specified in the employee handbook.
  • Meets all documentation and productivity standards as identified by the agency.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources when utilizing the disciplinary process or making decisions regarding promotion or termination.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or other license in clinical field within the State of Nebraska or Iowa. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five or more years progressive leadership/management responsibility in a similar size company.  Ability to collect, analyze, and utilize a variety of data in program planning and evaluation.  Thorough knowledge of leadership methods as they apply to health services organization, personnel, planning and financial management.
  • Knowledge of all service lines, Federal and State regulatory requirements, licensure, certification, third party reimbursement and scope of practice standards and home health care practice.  Knowledge of community resources.
  • Active license to practice as a Registered Nurse, or other clinical license in the State of Nebraska or other licensure in compact state. 
  • Effective professional communication skills, both written and oral.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret appropriate periodicals, regulations and correspondence pertaining to area of expertise.  Ability to present information and respond to questions from employees, clients, managers and the public.
  • Excellent computer proficiency. (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of standards effectively.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.  Ability to prioritize, and check for errors and spot inaccuracies.  Ability to predict the logical outcome of various choices and to make good decisions.
  • Adapts to changes in procedures and technology.   Willingly learns new skills as required for the position.
  • Demonstrates competencies as defined by the agency for this position. Develop and conduct clinical orientation.
