Description
The Waldinger Corporation, a large mechanical, electrical, sheet metal and service contractor, is looking for a motivated, process-driven Director of Corporate Accounting. Responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations for the organization, this role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing internal controls, assisting in optimizing cash flow, and supporting executive decision-making. The Director of Corporate Accounting will play a key role in developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance and efficiency in alignment with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Team leadership & Development
Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and professional growth.
Implement training programs to enhance team capabilities, focusing on accounting principles, systems, and industry-specific knowledge.Oversee recruiting and performance management within the finance departmentFinancial Preparation & Monthly CloseLead the cash, accounts receivable, fixed asset, accounts payable, payroll, and close teams to properly maintain the general ledger.
Work with branch controllers to improve accuracy and timeliness of the monthly close.Financial Reporting & AnalysisLead the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Analyze financial results and provide insights to senior leadership, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory standards, and company policies.Budgeting & ForecastingAssist with the annual budget preparation, including collaborating with departmental heads to align on financial goals.
Assist with cash flow forecasting and develop financial models to support growth and investment initiatives.Regularly compare actual performance to budgeted forecasts, investigating variances, and recommending corrective actions.Internal Controls & ComplianceImplement and monitor strong internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
Develop and enforce compliance policies, procedures, and systems in accordance with regulatory requirements.Lead the organization's annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely and accurate completion.Cost Management & Efficiency ImprovementsOversee job costing and cost allocation processes specific to construction and HVAC service operations.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency initiatives in partnership with operational departments.Lead the analysis and reporting on job costs, overhead allocation, and profitability of various service lines.Strategic Financial Planning & Capital ManagementSupport the CFO and executive team in strategic planning and investment decisions by providing relevant financial data and projections.
Ensure optimal management of working capital, including cash, accounts receivable, and inventory levels.Assist in evaluating mergers and acquisitions, financing arrangements, and other strategic opportunities.Systems & Technology ManagementLead finance-related technology initiatives, including ERP implementation, financial reporting software, and digital transformation projects.
Collaborate with IT to optimize and automate processes, enhancing productivity and accuracy within finance functions.Stakeholder CommunicationMaintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, auditors, and investors.
Serve as a key financial spokesperson, presenting findings, forecasts, and insights to board members and other executive leaders.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.10 years in an accounting or finance role 5 years leadership experienceExperience in construction or service-oriented sectors preferredStrong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and financial analysisAdvanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and financial reporting toolsExcellent leadership and team management skillsStrong analytical and strategic thinking abilitiesDemonstrated interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departmentsFamiliarity with regulatory compliance requirements relevant to construction and HVAC services preferredWe Offer :
