Summary :
This salaried position will combine Operational Support along with providing Safety Leadership as the Site Operations and Safety Specialist. This position will work closely with the Site Operations Management in helping to build a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with Company and Regulatory safety and health requirements. This position will also assist in production operations and special projects for the mill as well as other document control roles and responsibilities assigned by the Operations Manager.
Primary Duties :
- Champion safety and lead site in improving safety practices.
- Review operational improvement action items and coordinate with maintenance on expected completion dates.
- Perform all new-hire training, and train all site employees on weekly, monthly, and yearly safety topics.
- Maintain safety records on all training performed in company safety systems.
- Investigate and report all safety violations and instances.
- While working with operations; write, test, and review operational procedures.
- Learn company computer operating systems and control of documents.
- Maintain Lock Out / Tag Out Program, Job Hazard Assessments, Emergency Action Plans and perform safety audits / walkthroughs.
- Read, write, and audit operational procedures.
- Track safety and health key performance indicators. Log data into electronic tracking systems as needed. (Training completion, incident analyses, corrective and preventive actions, audits and inspections, etc.).
- Coordinate and / or support third party safety and health inspections. Develop cooperative working relationships with state regulatory bodies and corporate EH&S resources.
- Collaborate with other departments on cross-functional tasks and projects to maintain production performance and quality standards.
