Here is what you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Grant Coordinator is responsible for supporting the organization’s grant-seeking activities by identifying funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and supporting the application process. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all grants are submitted on time, comply with funder guidelines, and are effectively tracked and reported.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, nonprofit management or similar field preferred, but not required.
  • At least two years’ experience and proven success in coordination and administration within a nonprofit
  • Must pass criminal, child abuse and neglect, and sex offender background checks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and other electronic platforms
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including editing
  • Must have excellent command of the English language
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Able to effectively work independently, prioritize, multi-task and shift tasks
  • Able to work in shared workspace with distractions
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and Instrumentl is preferred, but not required
  • Be able to demonstrate the mission of YWCA Kalamazoo and adhere to it

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the Development Team in the execution of a comprehensive grant procurement strategy.
  • Conducts research to identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, private foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.
  • Submits LOIs and supports grant-writing as assigned
  • Maintains a comprehensive list of relevant grants and track deadlines, guidelines, and eligibility requirements utilizing Instrumentl – YWCA’s chosen grant management software.
  • Assists the Development Team in preparation of grant proposals including compiling supporting materials and ensuring all necessary documents are included.
  • Maintains accurate records of all submitted grant applications and outcomes.
  • Tracks grant funds awarded and supports the Development Team in managing reporting deadlines.
  • Supports the Development Team in scheduling funder meetings and check-ins.
  • Identifies areas for improvement in the grant proposal process and work to streamline and optimize systems.
  • Represents YWCA at events and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Stays up to date on industry trends and best practices.
  • Supports the Director of Development with special projects as capacity allows.
  • Attends all team and staff meetings, participates in collective team and agency efforts, and complies with all YWCA Kalamazoo policies and practices.
  • Remains flexible and manages changing priorities on a continuing basis.
  • Knows and adheres to Association policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Safeguards confidential information gained because of the position.
  • Complies with Association policy regarding required reporting of child abuse.
  • As a YWCA employee, projects a positive image of the Association and its programs to the community.
  • Works cooperatively with program participants, YWCA staff, and volunteers.
  • Demonstrates the mission of YWCA and adhere to it.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of YWCA Advancement Department and all fundraising activities.
