Our MEPC consulting firm is seeking an early to mid-career (5-10 years preferred) electrical engineer for design and analysis projects in commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.

Candidate would join an established team to serve customers in a broad variety of industries and facility types. The successful candidate will leverage existing technical knowledge of electrical engineering, code, and best practices while learning the standards of ThermalTech and its customers to produce quality projects.

Qualifications :

  • ABET accredited electrical or architectural engineering degree required
  • Ideal candidates will have studied power system analysis, electrical machines, and / or industrial control systems
  • Strong computer skills including experience with AutoCAD / Revit / modeling experience
  • Excellent critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and research design issues with available resources
  • Successful completion of the FE exam preferred but not required at time of hire
  • Curiosity to learn and grow in career
  • Eligible to work in the US without the need for current or future sponsorship

Experience :

  • Project design and installation in industrial facilities
  • Food and beverage plant experience is desired
  • Industrial power distribution design from 120V up to 15kV
  • Development of electrical construction packages including AutoCAD drawings and written specifications
  • Coordination with other trades including mechanical, plumbing, process, architectural, and structural
  • Responsibilities :

    Candidates work with lead engineers and design specialists as part of project-specific teams. Team size varies depending on project size and complexity. Candidates will be trained to plan and carry out all aspects of the design process using ThermalTech standards including :

  • Visit field to determine existing conditions, meet with contractors and code officials
  • Meet with clients to determine project scope, background data, equipment preferences
  • Make equipment selection using manufacturers' information
  • Prepare designs and details using three dimensional AutoCAD
  • Prepare and edit technical specifications
  • Prepare construction cost estimate
  • Be knowledgeable on electrical code issues, construction methods
  • Institute quality control procedures to insure correct and accurate deliverables
  • Review design with client representatives
  • Perform construction administration, including answering contractor questions, field visits to review construction status
  • Perform concept development, design, and analysis for projects including :
  • Power distribution systems for commercial / industrial / institutional buildings including new and retrofit projects, large chillers, boilers, and pumps, motor control centers, switchgear, substations, fire pumps, emergency generators, UPSs, grounding systems
  • Lighting design including interior, site, high-bay, exit and emergency lighting systems
  • Communications, data and miscellaneous building systems including (fire alarm, PA, intercom, telephone, data)
