How will you make an impact?
We are seeking a creative and motivated Scientist II to join our Analytical Chemistry and Enzyme R&D team. In this role the candidate will be part of an impactful, cross-disciplinary team, supporting research and development of our innovative next-generation sequencing technology. The candidate will be responsible for understanding and performing research and data analysis for development, improvement, and troubleshooting of reagents involved in our Ion Torrent sequencing workflows. This role will specialize in the understanding of our enzymatic reagent components and how they apply to our sequencing reagents and workflows. Successful candidates will need to be self-motivated and handle independent tasks with the understanding of how those tasks tie into the bigger picture.

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $73,000.00-$100,000.00.

What will you do?
- Perform laboratory bench work with focus on understanding and performing research and data analysis for development, improvement, and troubleshooting of reagents involved in our Ion Torrent sequencing workflows.
- Investigate enzyme kinetics and develop enzymatic assays to support new product development, on-market product quality control and troubleshooting.
- Apply analytical reagent investigation findings and analysis to optimize our next-generation sequencing workflows.
- Work with cross-functional teams to deliver high quality results, supporting Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Engineering and Analytical Chemistry teams in R&D and Operations.
- Perform and prioritize project deliverables to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects.
- Generate and analyze scientific data, compose presentations, and maintain a detailed and organized laboratory notebook.
How will you get here?
Education
- Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in the Biological Sciences
- Advanced degree preferred with limited experience
Experience
- 2 years related experience in Biology, Biochemistry, Enzymology, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Bioengineering or related field.
- Experience with enzyme assay development, including fluorescence-based kinetic assays, is desired.
- Understanding of analytical method development and statistical process control concepts is desired.
- Experience with enzyme characterization, using techniques such as gel electrophoresis, protein/nucleic acid quantitation (Bradford, Nanodrop, qPCR, dPCR, Bioanalyzer), or fluorescence-based assays, is a plus.
- Next-generation sequencing experience is a plus.
