The Role
The Extrusion Operator plays a critical role in our manufacturing process, operating extrusion machines to shape materials such as plastics or metals into long continuous products like pipes, tubes, and profiles. This position involves a variety of tasks essential for the efficient and safe operation of extrusion machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup and Preparation: Select, assemble, and install correct dies, and calibrate machine settings (temperature, pressure, speed) based on material specifications and product requirements.
- Feeding Material: Load raw materials into the extrusion machine, which may include pellets, powders, or liquids, depending on the extruder type and materials used.
- Operate and manage extrusion machines to produce high-quality products efficiently.
- Monitor the extrusion process, making adjustments to machine settings as necessary to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
- Conduct quality control inspections and tests, utilizing instruments like calipers and micrometers to ensure product specifications are met or exceeded.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with extrusion machines, including clearing blockages and making minor repairs.
- Maintain accurate production records and logs of machine settings, maintenance activities, and quality control outcomes.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Collaborate with the production team to meet production goals and enhance processes.
To be successful in this role you will possess
- 2 years experience as an Extrusion Operator or in a similar manufacturing role.
- Technical knowledge of extrusion processes and machinery.
- Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting ability.
- Proficiency in quality control measures and precision measuring tools.
- Basic mechanical skills for maintenance and repairs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
- Physical stamina: ability to stand 100% of the time, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform manual tasks.
- Commitment to safety as a top priority.
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school education is a plus.
- Professional, organized, dedicated, and punctual.
- Capability to perform work in industrial facilities, including walking, bending, reaching, and gripping tools during the eight hours shift.
