What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at THK Rhythm Automotive - Portland Plant?
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for all plant activities associated with the Finance functions. In addition, participation as a member of the plant management staff to provide input regarding plant operations, policies/procedures and strategic business decisions. The Controller must have strong communication, technology, analytical and management skills.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential functions)
· Ensure compliance with THK policies utilizing legal and ethical practices
· Produce accurate and timely financial forecasts and actual results on a weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
· Responsible for the Accounting systems (i.e., accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, fixed assets, cash and banking, etc.)
· Prepare financial detail for annual operating plan/budgets and the long-range strategic plan
· Responsible for business unit registrations and Federal/State/Local tax compliance
· Maintain records and coordinate activities to meet internal and external audit requirements
· Responsible for cost accounting systems (i.e., cost estimating rates, departmental budgets, etc.)
· Hiring, training, supervising, and retaining skilled accounting team
· Matrix responsibility to TRA Finance Director and activities related to divisional directives
· Promote and ensure compliance with all established health & safety procedures and practices
· Comply with all Company policies
Additional Responsibilities:
The responsibilities associated with this position are dynamic and can vary based on business requirements, management functions and other issues as directed by the plant manager. These include, but are not limited to activities such as:
· Lean production initiatives
· Costing and business analysis
· Quality management system
· Cost reduction coordination and analysis
· Work closely with Global Finance and Management
Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Science in Accounting or related field from an accredited four-year university. MBA preferred
· Professional Accounting Certification, including CPA, CMA, or CGA
· Experienced in fast paced automotive industry, preferred
· Ten years of related Finance experience
· Two - five years supervisory experience
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Experienced with SAP or similar ERP manufacturing system
· Skilled with standard office automation software
