Job Summary:
The IT Technician will deliver first-level technical support to end users across office and field operations, maintain critical IT systems, and contribute to the technological backbone of a growing company. This role ensures seamless operation of hardware, software, and networks to support project execution, safety, and efficiency.
Duties/Responsibilities:

- Provide prompt, first-level technical support to office staff, field crews, and management, resolving issues with hardware, software, and connectivity
- Troubleshoot and maintain laptops, tablets, printers, and GPS-enabled devices used in construction site operations
- Configure and support industry-specific software (e.g., Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, project management tools) alongside standard applications like Microsoft Office
- Assist in managing network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi access points at job sites, VPNs for remote access, and cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365)
- Respond to and document IT support requests, escalating complex issues to senior IT personnel when necessary
- Perform routine system maintenance, including backups, software updates, and cybersecurity measures to protect company data
- Set up and deploy IT equipment for new employees, ensuring proper access to company systems and tools
- Support field operations by troubleshooting mobile devices and connectivity for construction staking, survey data collection, and real-time collaboration
- Conduct occasional site visits to install or repair IT equipment, ensuring minimal downtime for crews
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and safety teams to align IT solutions with operational needs
- Maintain an organized inventory of IT assets, including hardware, software licenses, and warranties
- Deliver basic end-user training on tools and systems to improve productivity and reduce support demands
- Proactively recommend technology upgrades or process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability
- Stay current on construction industry technology trends and best practices
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on practical, hands-on problem-solving
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to assist non-technical users and document solutions
- Positive, adaptable attitude suited to the fast-paced, evolving nature of construction
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and basic networking (e.g., routers, switches, Wi-Fi)
- Familiarity with construction or survey software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar) is a plus
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively under tight deadlines
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, OneDrive) and remote access tools
- Commitment to improving workflows and adopting new technologies deadlines.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or IT certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , or Microsoft certifications preferred)
- Valid Driver’s License
- 2 years of IT support experience, ideally in construction, manufacturing, or a field-based industry
- Proven track record of direct end-user support
Physical Requirements:
- Capability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds (e.g., monitors, servers, networking gear)
- Must be able to work 5 days a week, with occasional overtime or on-call availability
- Willingness to navigate construction sites, including uneven terrain, to support field technology needs
Work Environment:
- The IT Technician will primarily work in an office environment but will occasionally visit construction sites to deploy or troubleshoot equipment. Site visits may involve exposure to dust, noise, outdoor weather conditions, and moderate physical hazards typical of construction settings.
