This position is temporary at this time, with an expected conclusion in mid-August. There is the possibility of this position becoming permanent should circumstances change.

9 year old male typically developing

Compensation: $27-$29/hour

Schedule: ASAP - June 30: Monday - Thursday 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm July 1 - Mid August: Monday - Thursday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Thrive Nannies is looking for a playful, loving, and engaging nanny with experience with children with physical disabilities to care for a 7-year-old girl near Cedar Park/Jonestown.

The 7 year old girl has Rett Syndrome and is physically disabled. She is cognitively alert and uses a Tobii eye tracker to communicate. She tends to be an easy going, “old soul” who loves music and stories, Disney princesses and science experiments. She eats mostly by mouth but is given water and occasional shakes through her G-tube. She uses a wheelchair and a stander.

The 7 year old girl would be the nanny’s primary charge, however she does have an 9 year old typically developing brother who will be home some of the time that the nanny is there. He loves baseball, board games, and science experiments. He will likely want to join in any fun happening, and can be a great help with his sister. The children’s mom works from home and will take responsibility for other needs that the brother may have.

The ideal candidate would have experience with the physical needs listed above, and be able to support her physical therapy by engaging in recommended activities in the home. The candidate should be able to lift/transfer 45 lbs. Someone with education or experience with physical or occupational therapy is a huge plus. The mom is willing to train the nanny, so if a candidate has experience with some but not all of the above, they are still encouraged to apply.

General Duties of the Nanny/Attendant Include:

• Providing a safe and health environment for the children
• Engaging in meaningful, developmentally and physically appropriate activities
• Supporting her therapy goals in the home
• Snack and meal prep for the children

Qualifications:

• 3 years of caregiving, teaching, or therapy experience
• Current CPR/First Aid
• Experience working with children with physical disabilities
