Position Summary
The Clinical Lead responsibilities include standard Medical Assistant duties including
Triage of patients prior to seeing the physician
Measuring vital signs
Gathering medical history
Performing phlebotomy and processing specimens
EKG and other in-office testing
Immunizations and therapeutic injections
Assisting physicians/providers with procedures
Assisting patients with care, including relaying information and providing education
Chart preparation
Accurate documentation and uploading information in the electronic health record
Calling/sending medications to pharmacies
Obtaining prior authorizations from insurance companies
Coordinating care, including diagnostic tests and specialist referrals
Communicating with outside entities, including other medical offices
Additionally, the Clinical Lead will have administrative duties, primarily leading the clinical team by
Attending to the needs of the clinic, including the clinical needs of physicians/providers
Tracking inventory and supply of stock
Calibrating and maintaining equipment
Performing quality control for in-office testing
Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
Assigning tasks equitably to clinical team members to support the needs of the clinic
Ensuring that all medical assistants are adequately trained to complete assigned tasks
Promoting a supportive and cohesive work environment
Non-clinical duties may occasionally include, but are not limited to
Patient check-in/check-out
Collecting monies
Verifying insurance status for patients
Answering phones and relaying information
The Clinical Lead will not be expected to discipline members of the clinical team for violations of company policy or breaches of patient care; any such problems with team members will be reported to the Office Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols
Ability to communicate effectively, including use of proper grammar and spelling
Knowledge of current Microsoft Office Suites (Office 2007 or more recent) including Word and Outlook required; knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint is also recommended
Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine tests with attention to proper procedure, precision and accuracy
Knowledge and use of appropriate medical terminology
Skill in specimen collection
Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer
Ability to work independently and with others
Skill in fostering a congenial work environment and a cohesive clinical team
Education / Training / Requirements
Medical Assisting Diploma.
Current CPR or BLS certificate.
At least 2 years of relevant experience.
