Position Summary: The Agricultural Group Facilitator plays a vital role in utilizing agricultural therapy as a therapeutic approach to support the mental health and well-being of clients in a residential treatment setting. This position involves leading group therapy sessions that incorporate agricultural activities, facilitating hands-on learning experiences, and fostering personal growth through engagement with nature and farming practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Group Facilitation:
- Plan, organize, and lead agricultural therapy sessions for groups of clients, creating a safe and supportive environment for therapeutic engagement.
- Facilitate structured discussions and activities that promote teamwork, self-expression, and emotional well-being through agricultural tasks.
- Therapeutic Education:
- Educate clients about various agricultural practices, including gardening, planting, animal care, and sustainable farming techniques.
- Provide instruction on the benefits of engaging in agricultural activities for mental health, including stress relief, skill development, and a sense of accomplishment.
- Assessment and Support:
- Assess clients’ interests, skills, and therapeutic needs related to agricultural activities to tailor sessions appropriately.
- Provide individualized support during group activities, assisting clients in overcoming challenges and promoting personal growth.
- Integration with Treatment Plans:
- Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure that agricultural therapy aligns with clients’ individualized treatment goals and overall care strategies.
- Document clients’ progress, participation, and therapeutic outcomes related to agricultural activities.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all agricultural activities are conducted safely, following established safety protocols, facility guidelines, and best practices in therapeutic activities.
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory standards and facility policies regarding mental health and therapy practices.
- Community Engagement:
- Foster a sense of community among clients by encouraging teamwork, cooperation, and positive relationships through group agricultural projects.
- Create opportunities for clients to share their experiences and insights from agricultural activities, enhancing social skills and emotional connections.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in facilitating group activities, preferably in a mental health or therapeutic setting.
- Familiarity with agricultural practices, horticulture, and hands-on learning approaches.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage and motivate clients.
- Ability to create engaging, educational, and therapeutic group sessions centered around agricultural activities.
- Patience, empathy, and understanding in working with individuals facing mental health challenges.
- Personal Qualities:
- A genuine passion for agriculture, nature, and the therapeutic benefits of working with plants and animals.
- Flexibility and adaptability in response to the needs and dynamics of the group.
Working Conditions:
- This position may involve outdoor work in various weather conditions, physical activity related to farming and gardening, tending to animals, and interaction with animals as part of the therapy.
- Flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on program needs and client availability.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $45.00 per hour
