Position Overview
This is a seasonal Summer Camp position.
Tinker Art Studio seeks to hire an energetic, positive and fun Assistant Art Teacher to join our team for Summer Camps this summer! This is a very fun position working directly with children and helping assist teachers during our fun and fast-paced summer art camps.
Our theme-based Summer Camps run as half day camps, Monday - Friday from 9am - 12pm and from 1pm - 4pm. The Assistant Teacher will primarily support a group of 18 campers and Lead Teacher in our largest studio space, but could also move between the different studios helping to support students with their artwork during busy times, joining groups as they go outside for a snack/play break, and helping to clean up and prep art supplies. This position also includes setting up and breaking down tables and art supplies, helping to clean the studio, and other Studio Assistant style duties. The Assistant Teacher will work both the morning and afternoon art camps each week alongside Lead Teachers, with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break from 12:15-12:45pm daily.
Skills, Abilities, and Experience
- Minimum High School diploma; preferred BA in progress; degrees in or pursuing elementary education and/or art preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates
- Experience working with children
- Experience teaching art to elementary aged students is preferred
- Previous experience in the camp setting preferred
- Experience with painting, drawing, mixed media, and a variety of other art mediums
- Genuine enjoyment for working with children
- Ability to successfully implement Tinker’s curriculum and structure focused on community building and relationship building
- Enjoyment for being a part of a team in a lively and busy studio setting
- Excellent people skills and enjoyment for being around people
- Ability to efficiently prioritize and with a positive work ethic
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
Hours:
- This is a seasonal Summer Camp position.
- Camps run from May 27th - August 12th
- Monday - Friday work hours, 8:30am - 4:30pm, with an unpaid 30 minute lunch break daily.
Additional training days, and one week off closure are detailed below:
Virtual Onboarding Between May 5th - May 9th:
- 2-4 hours of virtual onboarding (asynchronous)
In Person Onboarding/Training Days:
- Monday, May 12th // 10am - 4:30pm
- Monday, May 19th // 9:30am - 12:30pm
One week off (Tinker closed):
- Monday, June 30th - Friday, July 4th
Compensation
- $16 - $17/hr DOE
