Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in establishing and maintaining a harmonious classroom.
- Help in establishing and maintaining Tip Tap Grow’s classroom culture, paying attention to the needs of students.
- Carefully observe and keep records on each student’s individual progression through the classroom always being available to offer gentle guidance.
- Participate in all school events and conferences.
- Clean-up of the classroom. Ensuring that it is always tidy.
- Responsible for reporting any child abuse or neglect
Responsibilities to the Lead Teacher:
- Assist the lead teacher with the children in their learning and understanding of materials.
- To be informed and carry out duties as assigned by the lead teacher.
- To be familiar with the Parent’s Handbook.
- Inform the lead teacher of any classroom difficulties, including discipline, health, equipment needs, repair and maintenance.
- Meet with the lead teacher to discuss goals for the class and individual students.
- Responsible for reporting suspected child abuse or neglect
Responsibilities to the Children and Parents:
- Keep information confidential.
- Be professional and positive in all dealings with children and parents.
- Share all information from parents with the lead teacher.
- Allow the children to be as independent as possible and try not to be an obstacle in their growth.
Position Qualifications
- Ability to lift weight of twenty-five pounds. Qualified candidates are required to have and maintain:
- Central Background Registry Number
- Recognizing Child Abuse & Neglect Seminar
- Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety
- Safe Sleep
- Orientation
- Current Food Handler’s Card
- Current First Aid & CPR (includes infants, children and adults)
- Foundations for Learning
- Oregon Registry Online (ORO) Professional Development Statement
- ABAR Training
- Trauma Informed Training
- Fifteen hours of required annual training with eight hours in child development and one hour health, safety, and nutrition
Qualified candidates must be willing to:
- Demonstrate dedication to the practice of the Tip Tap Grow’s educational philosophy
- Complete Tip Tap Grow’s assistant training within two years of being hired
- Commit to leading a culture of lifelong learning by personal example
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.93 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
