A marketing director's responsibilities include:

  • Significant campaigns: Overseeing major marketing projects within the company. Assist in the sales growth at each unit with creative ideas and marketing strategies
  • Market research and analysis: Researching trends in the market and competitors to develop marketing strategies
  • Strategic marketing planning: Developing and implementing a marketing strategy that aligns with the company's objectives
  • Communication: Converting complex ideas into actionable information for the marketing team
  • Marketing management: Controlling and operating marketing activities
  • Product input and marketing aspects: Driving the go-to-market strategy for a company's products
  • Review current marketing trends and advertisements to determine the effectiveness of different styles and strategies
  • Analyze sales numbers in comparison to the marketing budget in order to find the profit margin and which campaigns were most effective
  • Research competitors to stay current with similar products or services on the market
  • Work with both the sales and marketing departments to develop successful strategies and campaigns that attract new customers and keep current clients
  • Collaborate with other executives to make high-level decisions regarding the budget and the direction of the company
  • Create and maintain a successful brand and image that attracts customers to the product or service
  • Develop marketing strategies for new products or services that comply with current company standards

Other duties of a marketing director include:

  • Creating an annual marketing budget with outside Marketing Company
  • Developing brand strategies
  • Maintaining and building the company's social media pages and marketing websites working with the Marketing Company
  • Identifying and creating new business opportunities, events and specials
  • Adjusting marketing plans based on customer trends and preferences
