TMC Transportation has an immediate full-time opening for a Dedicated Final Mile Fleet Manager working out of our office in Des Moines, Iowa.
PRIMARY FUNCTION :
The primary function of a Dedicated Final Mile Evening and Weekend Manager is to provide coverage needs in the evenings and Saturdays.
Coverage hours would be Tuesday through Friday, 11 : 00AM – 8 : 00PM in the Des Moines office, and Saturday coverage 6 : 00AM – 3 : 00PM. Saturday coverage can be done remotely.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Accept orders, optimize routes, and plan delivery schedules maximizing productivity and efficiencyDispatch loads to the drivers (issue load information, delivery requirements, and routing)Arrange for additional labor for any deliveries that require it.Track drivers through their daily delivery schedule to ensure on-time delivery expectations are met.Communicate with drivers and customers quickly and effectively to resolve any delivery issues that may arise throughout the day.Notify Customer of issues / changes that might impact customer expectations or affect load assignmentsPromote safety throughout all areas of operations, including the dispatching of loads in accordance with the drivers’ hours of availabilityFocus on driver retention by understanding driver requirements / preferences, by monitoring driver performance to ensure driver requirements are being met, and by keeping drivers informed and motivatedResponsible for maintaining and submitting driver payroll records weekly.Ensure the awareness of and enforce company policiesTrack equipment maintenance requirements and schedule equipment to have work done accordinglyProvide evening and Saturday coverage for Final Mile, answering inquiries and providing guidance as to best practices for Final Mile drivers.Monitoring email and telephone communication with Home Depot and escalating issues as needed.Ensuring that communication regarding evening and weekend needs is relayed to the appropriate Final Mile fleet manager.Other duties may be assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE :
Four-year degree, preferably in Transportation and Logistics, and / or relevant experience in transportation or related fieldFluent in computer applications and keyboard proficiencyAbility to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stressAbility to plan, organize, be attentive to detail and possess and strong problem-solving skillExcellent interpersonal skills, including good listening skillsPossess courteous, yet assertive telephone personality
