What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Coordinator position at Toilet Equity?
Toilet Equity is seeking a motivated individual to manage daily operations for our Colorado River Corridor Project. This project coordinator will help train and coordinate volunteers, respond to project needs, acquire supplies, fill in on maintenance shifts when necessary, and develop local contacts for community relations, toilet placement, and volunteer and donor growth, with increasing responsibilities in line with employee performance and organizational needs.
We are looking for a candidate who is focused on building community and has the communication skills to make that happen. Our ideal candidate would be passionate about providing toilet equity for the unhoused population of the Grand Valley, be energetic about communicating with that population about their needs, and be comfortable proposing our solutions to the general public, including local businesses, organizations, volunteers, and donors.
We are a growing organization seeking funding for this role. We are seeking someone who wants to grow with the needs of the role and the organization. Starting pay is $20/hour for 15-20 hours a week. Scheduling can be determined by the employee within the needs of the organization.
Essential responsibilities:
- Develop local contacts, both for community relations and volunteer and donor base
- Attend local community meetings
- Interface with and lead the Advisory Council of Users
- Recruit volunteers
- Lead group volunteer days in the community
- Lead community outreach and fundraising events
- Acquire building materials in consultation with CEO and the current Project Coordinator
- Schedule toilet builds and coordinate with volunteers and the current Project Coordinator
- Oversee toilet builds and perform final detail work
- Fill in on open maintenance shifts and compost duties
- Respond to project needs in a timely manner
- Adhere to a project-specific budget
- Communicate with CEO on project updates and budget
- Lead project evaluations and develop annual reports in consultation with CEO
- Report weekly to the CEO
Basic qualifications:
- English proficiency
- Good people skills
- Shown proficiency with Google Drive
- Ability to lift a 50lb box to chest height or similar physical activity
- Ability to pull a trailer
- Ability to work weekends
- Shown proficiency with power tools
- Shown proficiency with leading and coordinating groups of people
- Shown proficiency with maintaining financial records
- Interest in composting process
- Passion for helping others
- Out of the box thinking
Bonus qualifications:
- Spanish proficiency
- Previous experience with project coordination
- Experience with the unhoused population in Grand Junction
