JOB TITLE: PRODUCTION COORDINATOR - Metals
REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER - MACHINING
JOB CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT
JOB STATUS: FULL TIME
JOB PURPOSE:
Manage production schedules and coordinate with the Scheduling Department to make adjustments, as needed, to ensure that work orders are ran according to customers delivery dates. Oversee inventory levels, ensuring that materials and resources are available when needed to meet production demands. Implement and monitor quality control measures to maintain product standards and compliance with regulations and customer expectations. Facilitate communication between production teams, and management to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. Analyze production data, including volume, cost, and waste reports, to identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with all Tool Gauge departments to achieve production goals.
- Troubleshoot department processes to obtain optimal process parameters.
- Ensure cycle times, yield, part quality, and deliverables meet or exceed company strategies to reduce overall production costs.
- Collaborate with Scheduling and Customer Service to deliver according to commitment dates.
- Make recommendations to the Operations Manager for proper staffing levels to maintain current workloads.
- Create, review, and update work instructions and SOPs for assigned areas.
- Understand and support Department budget objectives in terms of spending and overtime.
- Support production-based KPI measurements.
- Regularly audit the production process to ensure uniformity and quality.
- Manage production-related documentation and records.
- Assist in material and labor forecasting for production runs.
- Troubleshoot production problems with real-time solution of the issue.
- Coordinate with engineering teams for product design changes at the beginning to improve manufacturability.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex production problems.
- Implement safety protocols, requirements, and company policy.
- Participate in continuous improvement to enhance the efficiency of production.
- Establish and maintain production tracking systems.
- Attending regular production meetings with the Operations Manager to discuss the progress, problems, and solutions.
- Prepare production reports and their distribution.
- Analyze production data for any bottlenecks and areas of improvement.
- Interact with quality control departments to ensure production is carried out according to specified standards
- Provide information to coworkers.
- Coordinate work activities and jobs according to shipment schedules.
- Read work orders to determine material or setup requirements.
- Coordinate operational activities.
- Examine documents to verify adherence to requirements.
- Inspect items for damage or defects.
- Compile data and necessary documentation to report regular updates to Operations Manager and Leadership.
- Review documents, such as production schedules and work orders to determine personnel, materials requirements and material priorities.
- Coordinate training opportunities and track progress. Work with HR Department to ensure all training documentation is recorded in the employee personnel file.
- Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, marketing, sales, production, or engineering.
- Compile information, such as production rates and progress, materials inventories, or materials used, so that status reports can be completed.
- Examine documents, materials, or products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications. Disposition work orders/travelers in IQMS.
- Record production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, or quality control measures.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist leadership with recommendations regarding staffing levels, training needs, position fit/suitability, and potential corrective actions.
- Assist with performance reviews and competence assessments according to Tool Gauge review process.
- Develop team members through training or education to increase skill levels and job knowledge.
- Provide oversight as directed by the Operations Manager to department team members.
- Comply with the standards prescribed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to ensure safety at the workplace.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years of manufacturing experience (Preferred).
- 3-5 years of proven communication and organizational skills to effectively coordinate, supervise, manage, and or train others in a manufacturing environment or related field. (Required)
- Experience in providing ongoing training, coaching, mentoring and supervision.
- Understanding of ERP systems and inventory control processes.
- Aerospace experience is a plus.
