Job Summary
The Behavioral Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health challenges. Behavioral Specialist Core Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct comprehensive behavioral assessments
- Develop individualized behavior intervention plans
- Implement behavior modification techniques and strategies
- Collect and analyze behavioral data for continuous improvement
- Collaborate with BCBA, parents, direct support providers, and program managers
- Provide training and support for staff and parents
- Monitor and document progress and adjust plans as necessary
- Advocate for the needs of individuals with behavioral challenges
- Facilitate social skills training and other group interventions
- Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings
- Stay current with research and best practices in behavioral science
- Provides direct instruction/ongoing supervision, training and support to direct support providers and family members to ensure that the individuals served receive the best possible care.
Behavioral Specialist Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Behavioral Science, Education or a related field
- Experience working with diverse populations, behavior analysis or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in team settings
- Advanced data collection and analysis skills
- Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records
- Proficiency in developing and implementing behavior intervention plans
- Experience in behavior management tools
- Robust capacity for creative problem-solving and critical thinking
- Understanding of behavioral assessment and intervention methods
- Strong observational and analytical skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
