Job Summary:
The Facility Manager is responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and structured environment that aligns with the therapeutic goals of the substance abuse treatment program. This role oversees the physical upkeep of the facility, ensures compliance with licensing and accreditation standards, and supports daily operations that directly impact client care. The Facility Manager plays a key role in promoting safety, security, and a positive atmosphere conducive to recovery.
Key Responsibilities:Facility & Maintenance Oversight
- Ensure the facility is clean, well-maintained, and fully operational at all times.
- Perform or coordinate routine and emergency maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security systems.
- Conduct regular facility walkthroughs to proactively address safety hazards or maintenance needs.
- Maintain logs and documentation for all repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance.
- Ensure bedrooms, common areas, group rooms, and restrooms are clean, safe, and functional.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including those set by licensing agencies (e.g., DCF, CARF, Joint Commission).
- Ensure the facility is always ready for inspections and audits.
- Oversee fire safety systems, conduct regular drills, and maintain emergency response plans.
- Monitor security systems and building access to ensure the safety of staff and clients.
Client Environment & Support
- Work closely with clinical and residential staff to ensure the physical environment supports the therapeutic structure (e.g., lights-out rules, quiet hours, group room setup).
- Support the enforcement of program rules regarding cleanliness, curfews, and client responsibilities.
- Assist with the onboarding of new clients by preparing rooms and orientation spaces.
Staff & Vendor Coordination
- Supervise maintenance/janitorial staff and outside contractors/vendors.
- Schedule and oversee facility-related projects (e.g., renovations, pest control, landscaping).
- Ensure vendors adhere to confidentiality and safety protocols appropriate for a substance abuse setting.
Inventory & Supplies
- Monitor and restock facility supplies including cleaning products, light bulbs, PPE, linens, etc.
- Track facility-related purchases and submit invoices/receipts to the appropriate department.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade certification or facilities-related coursework preferred.
- 2 years of facilities or maintenance experience, preferably in a healthcare or residential setting.
- Experience working in a behavioral health or substance use treatment environment strongly preferred.
- Supervisory experience a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Understanding of addiction treatment environments and the importance of structure and consistency.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
- Ability to work respectfully and professionally with individuals in recovery.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and life/safety codes.
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in emergency situations.
- Computer literacy for work orders, reports, and compliance tracking.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
- Availability for on-call emergencies or after-hours issues as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
