Job Overview:
Our client, a well-established construction contracting firm, is seeking a skilled and organized Bookkeeper to support their financial operations. In this role, you will be the primary accounting staff member responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing financial transactions, and providing essential financial insights to assist with company decision-making. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Recordkeeping:
- Accurately record and categorize all financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, payments, and expenses.
- Maintain a comprehensive and organized filing system for financial documents and records.
- Ensure that all financial data is entered into the accounting software in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Bank Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card statements on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or irregularities in financial records.
3. Accounts Payable and Receivables:
- Process accounts payable transactions, including verifying invoices, obtaining approvals, and issuing payments.
- Manage accounts receivable, including generating and sending invoices,
4. Job Costing, Commissions and WIP Accounting
- Track Job Costs and Job Profitability
- Occasionally manage Work in Progress (WIP) accounts to ensure accurate P&L statements
- Track and enter sales commissions.
5. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, on a regular basis.
- Provide management with timely and accurate financial reports to support decision-making.
6. Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Under the guidance of senior management: Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to identify areas of concern or improvement.
7. Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file relevant tax forms and reports, such as sales tax and payroll tax filings, in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Work with and support the company’s tax accountant to support timely filing of taxes.
8. Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support business decisions.
9. Payroll and HR
- Assist with preparing payroll
- Provide finance related support for HR as needed
10. Communication and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and ensure accurate reporting.
- Communicate financial information and provide support to management and external stakeholders as needed.
11. Compliance and Audit Support:
- Assist in financial audits and provide necessary documentation and information to auditors.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably in a similar industry. > 5 years preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Desktop) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Salary Range of: $45,000 - $55,000
