Role Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant/Bookkeeper to support the daily financial operations of our construction company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and procedures. Experience in the commercial construction industry is preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and general ledger entries
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly
• Prepare invoices and follow up on outstanding payments
• Track job costs and assist with project accounting
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting as needed
• File and organize financial documents
• Collaborate with project managers and vendors to ensure accurate billing and payments
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• 2 or 4 year degree in Accounting, Finance, or adequate job related experience
• 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting (construction industry experience a plus)
• Proficiency in Sage, ComputerEase, Viewpoint (or other construction accounting software) and Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and job costing
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
