Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Directs a variety of recreational programs for individuals with developmental/intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
- Creates, implements, and adapts program plans that encompass a diversity of activities and domains that are age-appropriate.
- Directs, provides support and training, and completes evaluations of seasonal staff and volunteers with regards to the Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation (APIE) process and program standards.
- Ensures safety practices are followed. Administers First Aid and performs CPR if necessary.
- Demonstrates appropriate behavioral management techniques that focus on principles of respect, safety, and dignity.
- Completes necessary documentation and forms related to programs, participants, and staff/volunteers.
- Communicates in person and via email with parents/guardians and caregivers regarding participants and program.
- Provides transportation for participants by driving a van. Performs safety checks of vehicles.
- Sets up, cleans, and organizes program areas and supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age
Experience: At least one (1) year experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
Licenses and/or Certifications Required:
- A Valid Colorado Driver's License
- CPR and First Aid Certifications required; or ability to attain within 30 days of hire
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skill in directing and instructing others.
- Skill in both written and oral communications for effective expression and clarity.
- Skill in performing CPR and First Aid.
- Ability to respond to parent/guardian and participant concerns with considerable tact and courtesy.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions in accordance with established Town and program policies and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, partners, participants, care givers, parents/guardians, and volunteers.
- Skill in safely operating a multi-passenger vehicle.
Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
