Applicants Must Have The Ability To
- Performs responsible technical and clerical work on an assigned shift dispatching emergency services personnel and equipment often in response to emergency situations; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision.
- The ability to operate separate computer consisting of police records, give information to the officer responding to a complaint, keep complete logs on various arrests, teletype entries and cancellations.
- The ability to operate a computer terminal connected to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the National Crime Information Center; process requests from officers regarding driver's license checks, vehicle registration checks, criminal histories, various stolen and recovered items, warrant checks and broadcasts.
- The ability to operate a radio system to receive and transmit messages, dispatches emergency requests received through telephones, handle requests for service by telephone, and answering all non-emergency police lines.
- Graduation from an accredited High School or GED equivalency.
- Must possess a valid Class "E" Florida driver's license.
- Must be able to work shift work.
- Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and applicable statutes.
- Must become certified by FCIC/NCIC as a Telecommunications Operator within six months of assignment.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

- Remain calm during critical incidents.
- Handle several different tasks at one time; multi-functional.
- Operate necessary equipment, including personal computer, copier, facsimile machine, and other standard office equipment.
- Failed a Town of Davie Background Investigation, Oral Board Interview, Polygraph or Psychological Exam within the past year;
- Felony convictions;
- Steroid usage within five (5) years of the date of this application;
- Visible tattoos above the collarbone on the neck, face, head, scalp or on the hands;
- Not have used any illegal controlled substances within three (3) years of the date of this application with the exception of marijuana. All applicants must not have used marijuana or cannabis in any form within one (1) year of the date of this application.
- Used any tobacco products within six (6) months of the date of this application.
