Summer Recreation Counselor

Come be a summer Rec Counselor for Dennis Recreation. We host 150 kids from ages 6 - 13 at Johnny Kelley Park on mondays - friday from 8:30am - 4:30pm. Counselor hours will range anywhere inside the window of 7am - 5:30pm. Our camp each week features: field trips, on site performances, ice cream truck visits, sports, games, activities, arts and crafts etc. The average age of our counselors is approximately 19 years old. Must be 16 years old to start work. We have approximately 25 staff members.

Seasonal position Beginning Mid June until Mid August

Responsibilities:

-Provide care, safety, structure and enthusiasm to kids ranging age 6 - 13
- Provide guidance and support to children
- Participate, Create and implement age-appropriate activities and programs
- Utilize theater and sports coaching techniques to engage and motivate students
- Manage behavior and promote positive social interactions
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children under your care

Requirements:

- Active, outdoor lifestyle - must be fit to be outdoors in the summer for long lengths of time and to participate in numerous physical activities with a range of ages.
- Previous experience working with children in a childcare, educational, or counseling setting is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles and individual needs
- Experience in athletics, theater, sports coaching, early education or related fields is a plus
- Familiarity with classroom management strategies is a plus
- CPR, AED and First Aid certification required

Expected hours: 35 – 43 per week
