What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Attendant position at Town of Green Level?
This is an at-will non supervisory, part-time position performing custodial level work in the Parks and Recreation department. Position engages with an array of cleaning responsibilities, and excellent customer service. Position requires moderate knowledge in routine maintenance that involves sweeping, blowing, trash pick-up and disposal, and assisting guests with facility rental needs.

- Monitor and interact with customers during regular park hours of operations and special events.
- Ensure adherence to established rules and regulations; maintain a safe clean environment, and report any damage or issues that may cause a safety hazard.
- Complete routine scheduled maintenance of park facilities including concessions, bathrooms, shelters, and park office space.
- Help prepare and maintain athletic fields and related facilities.
- Pick up litter around park grounds, trails, courts and playgrounds, and dispose of such properly.
- Setting up and breaking down necessary Town equipment etc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required by the Maintenance Specialist, Program Coordinator or Park and Recreation Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to identify safe work practices. Use the hand and power tools required in general grounds maintenance work. Understand and carry out both oral and written directions. Learn the proper method of planting, cultivating, and pruning hedges, trees, shrubs, laws, and flowerbeds. Report possible safety hazards in parks and recreation areas. Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively. Must have a valid NC drivers license. Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Skill in providing good customer service.
- Skill in a variety of custodial duties.
- Skill in field preparation.
- Punctuality in opening and closing of facilities.
- Perform manual labor including lifting heavy weights, stooping, bending and twisting.
- Assist in other sections of the department as necessary; and
- Perform other such duties as may be assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will also be required to work in the field and perform maintenance duties such as repair pipes, replace valves, re-set irrigation systems, fertilize, oversee, and aerate parks. This employee will be driving on-site frequently, in the sun, rain, and other outside elements. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May be expected to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This employee will be required to use aerial man lifts and should not be afraid of heights.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gasses or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.
