What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Day Camp Director position at TOWN OF HYDE PARK RECREATION?
Must be 21 years of age. At least 24 weeks of administrative or supervising experience in camping. Prior experience in camping, recreation, physical education, teaching, or childcare. Preferred bachelor’s degree.
1. Works with Recreation Director in overall program development during pre-season.
2. Direct pre-camp orientation and training of camp staff.
3. Supervision of camp staff on camp site.
4. Carries out daily scheduling and planning.
5. Responsible for knowing each groups daily activities.
6. Interacting directly with children on a daily basis.
7. Ensure that proper supplies and equipment are present to implement a successful program.
8. Conducts daily staff meetings.
9. Responds swiftly and effectively to parents concerns.
10. Evaluates staff with written evaluations, three times a season.
11. Keeps accurate camp records (i.e. attendance, parent drop-off and pick-up sheets, equipment and supply use sheets, facility maintenance and day to day program evaluation, first aid log, physician/camper medical prescription forms).
12. Assists in post camp evaluation of program and staff, supply and equipment inventory.
13. Ensures all supplies and equipment are boxed, identified, and stored in proper locations at end of season.
14. Administers first aid and CPR/AED when necessary.
15. Constantly alert to protect health and safety of all campers and staff.
16. Conducts oneself in a professional manner at all times as a representative of the Hyde Park Recreation Department.
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
