Hiring Range: $75,952 - $88,783
- Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of recreation programs and services of assigned facilities.
- Responsible for supervising, scheduling and coordinating logistics for facility reservations, including, but not limited to providing tours and information to prospective individuals and groups, and implementing details outlined in reservation agreements to ensure reservations are properly executed with optimal satisfaction.
- Supervise facility custodial services and maintenance, ensuring repairs are completed as needed.
- Prepare and manage program budget; project revenues and expenditures; monitor and track expenditures and fees collected and purchase authorized supplies and equipment.
- Research and foster alternative revenue sources including grants, partnerships and tenant agreements.
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise staff and volunteers of assigned facilities; evaluate staff performance and initiate disciplinary action when needed
- Responsible for the appropriate training of staff in assigned areas of responsibility; monitor status of required certifications; structure the evaluation and professional development of staff to ensure a high performing team.
- Oversee and manage contract services.
- Responsible for facility access control of assigned facilities. Develop and implement effective safety programs, procedures and guidelines; conduct periodic inspections and ensure assigned facilities are properly maintained for optimal safety.
- Successfully manage special projects, including facility renovations and improvements, as directed by the Recreation Manager.
- Successfully implement directives of assigned facilities under minimal supervision.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Town personnel and officials, residents, customers, local businesses and others contacted in the course of work.
- Serve as Town representative, liaison and resource for community agencies and external organizations.
- Promote public understanding of assigned facilities; hear and respond to citizen complaints; follow up on complaints and provide feedback to citizens, enact changes to reduce complaints and/or improve service and efficiency.
- Understand and successfully implement Town policies, procedures, laws and regulations relating to assigned facilities.
- Research a variety of complex data and information and make recommendations to improve Town operations and resolve problems.
- Provide assistance with the Town’s special events.
- Gather and provide information at the request of the Communications Department for marketing programs, events and services of assigned facilities.
- Serve as a staff liaison to volunteer citizen advisory group, post agendas, attend and facilitate meetings, post committee notes.
- Participate in community outreach events and serve as ambassador to the community for assigned facilities.
- Extensive knowledge of facility operation and oversight.
- Extensive knowledge of rules, best practices, and the methods of planning, operating and evaluating all ages recreation programs.
- Extensive knowledge of recreation disciplines.
- Knowledge of goals and objectives of the Superior Town Council.
- Knowledge of the general organization and operations of the Town of Superior.
- Knowledge of the policies, procedures and goals of the Town of Superior and the Department.
- Knowledge of Town of Superior organizational structures, intradepartmental relationships, operations, budgets, and goals.
- Knowledge of the Superior Municipal Code, and the Colorado Revised Statutes relating to government.
- Knowledge of basic local government dynamics (i.e., legislation, budget, Town Manager-Board form of government).
- Knowledge of introductory principles and practices of program and facility budget management.
- Knowledge of theories, methods, and practices of public administration, including organizational development public management, municipal management, budget and administration.
- Ability to efficiently coordinate a variety of activities and to work effectively with other staff.
- Ability to positively interact and maintain established effective working relationships with other employees, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other professional clientele
- Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, presentation, data base management, spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.

Special License, Registration, or Certification Required
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in recreation or related field. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required. Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification preferred. Two years of increasingly responsible management experience in recreation service delivery, facility management, and supervision of subordinate staff and volunteers, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the necessary qualifications.
