SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Assistant Facility Manager, the childcare attendant is responsible for the daily operations of the childcare department, greeting parents and children when they enter the childcare area and caring for children in a kind and responsible manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures positive public relations.
- Enforces policies set up by Trails management and educates public to follow policies.
- Must be willing to feed, diaper and nurture children of different ages.
- Must acquire CPR and First Aid certification within three months of hire date.
- Must be able to deal with conflicts concerning children and parents.
- Distribute childcare information to parents.
- Maintains cleanliness of childcare area and all toys.
- Reports problems with cleanliness or safety issues to Childcare Supervisor and/or Assistant Manager.
- May be required to work evenings and holidays.
- Attend staff meetings and complete scheduled trainings (i.e. new employee orientation, customer service, sexual harassment, etc.).
- Establishes and maintains a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity and teamwork.
- Must maintain a positive and friendly attitude while engaged in stressful and/or controversial situations with patrons and co-workers.
- Schedule may vary according to hours of operation.
- Complies with District rules and regulations and policies and procedures.
- Performs various other duties as needed and assigned by Childcare Supervisor and/or Assistant Manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and/or in writing with customers and employees of the District both in person and over the telephone.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively.
- Ability and willingness to participate in activities with the children while creating a fun and positive environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to move about the building, grounds and various athletic fields in a relatively quick manner.
- May require long periods of standing.
- Ability to stand, reach, climb and stoop or kneel.
- Ability to talk and/or hear language from patrons, managers, or groups of people; ability to lift, carry, transport equipment, benches, tables and chairs or other objects up to 50lbs assisted.
- Ability to see objects closely and at a distance.
- Ability to deal with moderate to high stress situations at times and maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- The noise level is typically moderate to high; water and humid conditions exist in the facility.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous childcare experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous customer service experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
