Description of Assignment
The Tri-Tech Pre-Electrical instructor will lead and deliver instruction and coordinate the operation of the Tri-Tech Pre-Electrical Program in accordance with Washington State requirements. The program prepares students to be high performing entry level electrical and construction related employees. The program focuses on electrical theory and blueprint reading, residential and commercial electrical codes and wiring and motor controls. The program develops critical thinking and teamwork skills. There is an expectation to work Tri-Tech summer school if offered - approximately 14 days for additional pay.
Qualifications Required:
- Possess a Washington State Career and Technical Education Teacher Certificate with an endorsement in Electrician (V460302) or Electrical and Electrical Equipment Repair (V470101) or meet qualifications to obtain one. A requirement for certification includes a minimum of 6000 hours of work experience in the electrical trades.
- Current or recent (2 to 4 years) experience in the electrical trades.
- Possess a general journey-level electrician (EL01) license.
- Ability and willingness to develop and promote the Tri-Tech Pre-Electrical program.
- Ability and willingness to develop and implement a work-based learning internship program with local community.
- Demonstrated punctuality, work attendance record and satisfactory evaluations.
Qualifications Preferred:
- Experience in other roles in the electrical career path such as administrator, supply chain and project management.
- Demonstrated success or training in providing leadership and guidance to the student leadership requirements of the program
- Evidence of teacher training or experience which reflects interactive student-centered instruction, using technology and real-world applications to enhance teaching and learning.
- Evidence of experience working with program advisory committee and community partners.
- Demonstrated success in maintaining a positive, productive learning climate in the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Design and deliver comprehensive instruction in the electrical trades, aligning with Washington State CTE curriculum framework in coordination with the other Pre-Electrical instructor.
- Work cooperatively to align program competencies and expectations with district approved program standards and state approved frameworks.
- Equip students with the skills and knowledge to excel as high-performing entry-level professionals in electrical and related construction fields.
- Demonstrate and enforce industry-standard safety practices in both lab and job site environments. Implement a comprehensive safety program, including regular safety briefings and drills. Hold students accountable for adhering to all safety protocols, with clear consequences for non-compliance. Stay updated on OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards, incorporating them into the curriculum.
- Establish and oversee a systematic approach to maintaining clean, organized, and safe lab facilities and job sites.
- Coordinate professional attire requirements aligned to industry standards for students and staff.
- Maintain a positive, productive learning climate in the classroom with open communication with parents, students, staff and administration.
- Lead the Pre-Electrical Instructional Assistant in coordination with the other Pre-Electrical instructor to foster a collaborative team environment, delegating responsibilities effectively, ensuring the Instructional Assistant is fully engaged in supporting student learning and skill development.
- Incorporate the work-site learning component into the program. Supervise and support student work-based learning opportunities through job shadows, and internships.
- Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills through practical, project-based learning.
- Cultivate relationships with local industry partners to enhance student opportunities and program relevance.

- Participate in related CTE Dual Credit articulation agreements.
- Work with the appropriate advisory committee(s); attend all meetings and implement advisory committee recommendations.
- Be an advisor and provide opportunities for all students to participate in student leadership activities within the leadership component of the program. May require hours outside the regular school day.
- Obtain a Basic Life Support (BLS) First Aid card and teach BLS to the students each year.
- Motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles.
- Maintain a positive, productive learning climate in the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.

- Use/learn computer technology i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, electronic grading and attendance, communication by e-mail, and ability to implement computer skills into daily classroom instruction.
- Implement the requirements of IDEA, Section 504, and ADA in the education of students with disabilities.
