Primary Role:
Student Services Director is responsible for the development and implementation of all student-related programs and student culture. These programs include but not limited to college preparation, alumni relations, character and leadership development, athletics, and parent engagement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, Master’s degree preferred
- Previous teaching, and supervisory, leadership, or administrative experience in a school or community-based organization is preferred
Skills:
- Team player, highly organized, ability to multitask
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Friendly and able to interact professionally and positively with staff, students, parents, and community members
- Computer skills including email, internet use, keyboarding, database, Excel, Word
- Knowledge of principles and practices related to youth development and educational issues
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all board policies
- Maintain confidentiality of all student, parent, and staff information
- Develop an annual outreach plan according to program needs and capacity
- Work with the school administrations to improve student spirit, culture, and motivation; develop short and long term plans for all student-related programs, monitor progress, assure adherence, and evaluate the performance.
- Guide schools on character development and life skills.
- Oversee all of the leadership programs, including, but not limited to CLP, NHS, NJHS, NEHS, Deca, and Student Council.
- Supervise all leadership program advisors by articulating expectations, displaying model behavior, maintaining open lines of communication and being clear about roles and relationships
- Oversee athletics, and work with coordinators in the development and performance of the athletic programs in all levels (elementary, middle, and high school)
- Set annual goals and follow up schools’ performance on college entrance exams (SAT/ACT), awarded scholarships, college applications, graduation, and college acceptance rates.
- Work with college counselors on guiding students and their parents/guardians through the college admissions and application process.
- Assist schools with the engagement of alumni by organizing alumni events, offering employment opportunities, volunteer work, academic, and social-emotional support.
- Develop a plan for parent engagement, work with school administrators on the improvement of the “Parent Academy”, and “Home Visits”, and other parent engagement activities.
- Oversee student activities, extra-curricular programs, smart lunches, clubs, competitive teams, and help them with their fundraising efforts.
- And, any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
