Certified Welding Inspector

The company builds strong relationships with the employees, customers and venders alike. Triad Metals is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector at our Columbia City, IN location.
This individual will be expected to visually inspect shop welds, train and qualify welders, and write procedures. The position will also include quality control inspection duties for other processed or cut to size steel products.
Successful Candidates will be expected to:
- Hold current certification as an AWS CWI
- Inspect and evaluate welds performed by in-house and contract welders in the shop to determine conformance with specifications and applicable codes
- Develop and write Weld Procedure Specifications
- Coordinate and oversee the qualification of in-house welders to various codes and WPS
- Perform various NDT on in house welds as required
- Calibrate welding equipment as necessary
- Perform quality checks on fabricated components for dimensional conformance to drawings and specifications using standard measuring equipment
- Document inspection results accurately and precisely
- Communicate findings to welders and other stakeholders
- Coordinate inspections with regulatory bodies
- Interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Review contract requirements and vendor/contract compliance
- Possess good mechanical and trouble shooting skills
- Perform overhead crane operation to move workpieces as needed
- Follow all safety and operating instructions
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Required Experience
- AWS CWI certification is required
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of welding related experience
