Job Description:
· Answering phones and greeting patients
· Making sure that patients receive appropriate scheduling information, if applicable
· Making sure patients receive information in a timely fashion
· Verifying insurance information
· Submitting referrals and running eligibility checks
· Managing calendar of physicians
· Rooming patients
· Receiving, answering, screening, and directing telephone calls in a courteous and timely manner, and ensuring the delivery/forwarding of messages to appropriate parties
· Maintaining a clean and organized general work area
· Performing other related duties as assigned or required
· Responding to requests for information from patients, patients’ families, and other external or internal sources in an appropriate and timely manner
· Assisting patients with billing problems by identifying personnel to help patients solve financial problems
· Ensuring the maintenance and safekeeping of all patient files and charts/ EMR records.
· Obtaining and submitting documentation for reimbursable expenses.
· Creating spreadsheets and establishing data bases to produce recurring reports or special reports as needed
· Coordinating with ambulatory surgery center staff and patients to schedule appointments and tests, as well as sending and receiving all documentation in a timely manner
· Maintaining inventory of clinical stock and supplies and orders as needed on a monthly basis
· Maintaining the medical records of patients
· Collecting, sorting, and distributing mail daily and delivers to physician offices
· Verifying all critical tasks are completed per clinic protocols
· Supporting, motivating, and sustaining a team-oriented culture
Qualifications
Education Required:
· High School Diploma or GED
Experience Required:
· At least 1 year of experience working as a receptionist or administrative assistant
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to anticipate the needs of the medical team and respond quickly and efficiently
Experience Desired:
· Experience working in a surgery center or doctor's office.
· Experience working with medical records.
· Familiarity with electronic medical records systems, such as Epic and DrChrono, is a plus
