Job Summary:
- We are looking for an experienced wildfire professional to manage prescribed burns and fuels reduction projects.
- This position requires a strong understanding of forestry principles, fire ecology, and wildland firefighting techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Manage prescribed burns and fuels reduction projects in accordance with tribal and national standards.
- Collaborate with foresters, biologists, and other stakeholders to develop and implement forest management plans.
- Conduct field surveys and assessments to identify areas requiring fuels reduction or prescribed burning.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, landowners, and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to wildland fire management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in forestry, range management, agriculture, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in wildland firefighting, prescribed fire, and fuels management.
- Red Card qualifications as a Firing Boss (FIRB) trainee.
- Must meet FIRB full qualifications within 2 years of hire.
- Single Resource Boss (CRWB, ENGB, HEQB, FELB) and Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5) certifications.
- Valid State of Montana Driver's License required for vehicle operation.
- Prior wildland firefighting experience on the fireline, gained through service in a primary/ rigorous firefighter position, or equivalent experience outside the Tribal government.
