What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at Tricoci Salon | Spa?

As our HR Generalist, you will tactically and strategically support the company by managing ‘core HR’ programs. You’ll use your knowledge to recommend, develop, and implement ‘best in class’ HR policies, procedures, and practices, and support the overall well-being of our Team Members by incorporating inclusivity into all aspects of the employment life cycle.
Here are some highlights of what you will be doing in this role:
- Responsible for leading ‘core HR’ projects and initiatives within the HR Department.
- Act as the compliance subject matter expert for various HR items including but not limited to laws and regulations (i.e. labor laws, paid sick leave, etc.) and Tricoci policies (i.e. guidebook, etc.).
- Lead annual initiatives and hold weekly project meetings for annual experience survey, performance reviews, team member guidebook annual sign-off, etc.
- Recommend, develop, and support the facilitation of various company learning and development programs (i.e. GM Monthly Training, Company Respect Training, etc.)
- Coordinate events with the HR Coordinator and Operations, creating communications, and thoughtfully recommending and implementing company practices and procedures.
- Lead HR annual budget process by gathering/compiling information for review and discussion.
- Manage HR vendor relationships, including contracts, ensuring timely renewals, rate negotiations, and terminations.
- Lead new hire onboarding process for HQ and managerial hires.
- Complete employment verifications as needed.
- Oversee unemployment claim responses, appeals, reporting, etc.
- Manage company’s I9/E-Verify process.
- Serve as lead to compile data and draft responses to any filings/charges, including but not limited to EEO, DOL, etc.
- Ensure foundational excellence by creating/recommending SOPs and keeping content current on all company platforms.
- Handle workers compensation claims, including reporting and communication to employees, CFO, and HR.
- Serve as the lead analytics reporter on the HR team, creating reporting/analytics and/or coordinating with IT to ensure necessary data is accessible.
- Manage the company's monthly and quarterly turnover reporting.
- Provide back-up HRIS support for HR Coordinator to ensure seamless and timely payroll processing.
- Support various HR projects and initiatives as necessary (i.e. recruitment events, annual benefits open enrollment, etc.).
- Respond to inquiries in the HR email inbox or triage as necessary.
Here are some of the skills that we are looking for:
- At least 4 years’ experience in Human Resources.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or proven experience in a similar role.
- HR Certification is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
- Excellent problem-solving ability, attention to detail and the ability to think critically in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion and privacy.
- Thrive in an autonomous culture. Proactively anticipating needs and questions (going above and beyond) and responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Must be a change agent, embracing change and influencing others to embrace and navigate through change.
- Must be proficient in systems, excel/word as well as PowerPoint; ability to run reports and provide analytics.
- Ability to work in the office at the Tricoci HQ in Palatine, IL, at least 3 days/week.
