Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll accounting, financial reporting, and system automation in a multinational organization. This role will focus on building out a centralized payroll database, automating complex journal entries, and ensuring the accurate reconciliation of payments across our global payroll operations. The Senior Payroll Accountant will work closely with both the global HR and accounting teams to streamline processes and ensure compliance with payroll regulations.
Responsibilities:
Centralized Payroll Database Management:
- Lead the development and management of a centralized payroll database for all global payroll operations, ensuring data integrity, security, and ease of access for relevant stakeholders.
- Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement payroll systems that support efficient data flow across multiple regions.
Automation of Payroll and Journal Entries:
- Automate complex payroll journal entries to streamline accounting processes, reduce errors, and increase efficiency.
- Utilize payroll software and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate posting of payroll data into the general ledger.
- Develop and implement automation solutions to integrate payroll processing with accounting and financial reporting systems.
Reconciliation of Payroll Payments:
- Perform regular reconciliations of payroll payments against liabilities.
- Resolve discrepancies between payroll systems and accounting records in a timely and accurate manner.
Collaboration with Global HR and Local Accounting Teams:
- Work closely with the global HR team to understand the impact of HR initiatives on payroll and ensure smooth data transitions between HR and accounting systems.
- Collaborate with local accounting teams to ensure local payroll practices are correctly aligned with global standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide payroll-related financial reporting to global leadership, HR, and accounting teams to ensure transparency and accuracy.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Generate reports and address questions relating to payroll tax filings, year-end processes, and audits.
- Stay current on changes to payroll tax laws, regulations, and best practices in various countries and adjust payroll processes as needed to ensure compliance.
Process Improvement and Standardization:
- Continuously assess payroll processes for opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy, including adopting new technologies and automation tools.
- Drive standardization of payroll procedures and reporting across all countries to ensure consistency and minimize errors.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or payroll certification is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience handling payroll accounting at a multinational organization.
- Proven track record in automating payroll-related processes and journal entries.
- Experience reporting payroll and benefits through multiple payroll providers, software platforms, and ERP systems.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting in various jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with taxation issues associated with payroll when working with a diverse workforce spread across multiple countries.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to reconcile complex financial data.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, etc.).
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with global teams and leadership.
