Medical Scheduler | Tulsa, OK
M-F | 7am - 4pm | Temp to Perm | $15 /DOE
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in the call center area and requires continual communication with patients.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Check and process voice-mail messages
- Answer telephones, screen calls, send messages and provide information
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments
- Provide information regarding appointments, locations, testing, and other basic information to patients and visitors by phone Collect patient demographic and insurance information by phone
- Send and request medical records by fax or phone
- Maintain and process patient referrals
- Process and/or distribute incoming faxes
- Manage personal financial journal, if applicable
- Perform any other duty assigned by call center manager
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of business and medical office procedures
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Ability to type at least 40 WPM
- Ability to operate a computer, printer, copier, and other basic office equipment
- Ability to answer telephones in a pleasant and helpful manner
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to correctly sort and index materials alphabetically and numerically
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with patients, coworkers, physicians, and the public
- Ability to protect and preserve confidential information
Experience
At least one year of experience working in a medical office preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology desirable
Computer competency

* Perform secretarial duties using specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital, clinic, or laboratory procedures. Duties may include scheduling appointments, billing patients, and compiling and recording medical charts, reports, and correspondence.
* Answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate staff.
* Schedule and confirm patient diagnostic appointments, surgeries, or medical consultations.
* Transmit correspondence or medical records by mail, e-mail, or fax.
* Greet visitors, ascertain purpose of visit, and direct them to appropriate staff.
* Complete insurance or other claim forms.
* Maintain medical records, technical library, or correspondence files.
* Receive and route messages or documents, such as laboratory results, to appropriate staff.
* Interview patients to complete documents, case histories, or forms, such as intake or insurance forms.
* Operate office equipment, such as voice mail messaging systems, and use word processing, spreadsheet, or other software applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, or medical records.
* Perform bookkeeping duties, such as credits or collections, preparing and sending financial statements or bills, and keeping financial records.
* Perform various clerical or administrative functions, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
* Transcribe recorded messages or practitioners' diagnoses or recommendations into patients' medical records.
* Arrange hospital admissions for patients.
